Introduction To Pasaayadaan ( Prayer ) ‘Shree Dnyāneshwar Mahārāj’, a selfless saint asked only one boon to
the Lord Almighty after completion of ‘Dnyāneshwari’ (A commentary
on ‘Bhagwat Geeta’ in Marathi). This boon was for the entire universe
and for universal peace and betterment. This is one of the best prayers
written by a Saint, who had causeless mercy for others. This prayer is
popularly known as ‘Paasayadan’. He concluded ‘Dnyaneshwari’ with this
‘Paasayadan’
‘PASAAYADAAN’
Shree Dnyāneshwar Mahārāja’s Request to the Lord, for Charity of Boon. Now let the God who is, ‘Supreme Being’ (Soul
of the Universe) be pleased with this sacred text of mine which is a
humble act of worship (A Sacrifice). After getting satisfied and happy
with this work of mine, I request Him (GOD) to grant me the following
boon. || 1 ||
Let the wickedness of wicked people get
destroyed and let them get more and more interested in doing good
"Karmas" (Good deeds), in short put them on the righteous path. Let all
living beings come close to each other and may they become very
friendly with one another. || 2 ||
Let the darkness of sins vanish, and
let the Sun of ‘Swadharma’ (Each one performing one’s duty diligently
according to one’s intrinsic nature) rise in this universe. In this
world of living entities ,
let every one get what they desire. || 3 || Groups of people who have implicit faith in
God and who shower ‘Holistic Auspicious Blessings’ on others, meet all
the living entities on this earth at all times (meet
uninterruptedly) || 4 ||
Virtuous and noble people who are like
walking gardens of "Kalpataru"
(A Wish Yielding Tree), Villages (large in numbers) of alive ‘Chintāmani’ (Wish yielding gem; philosophers stone) and talking oceans (who with their sweet words give life to despondent people) of "Amruta"(Nectar / Amrosal). Further these good human beings who are like blemishes moon and like sun without scorching heat may always be dear to people. || 5 & 6 || Infact may all three worlds be completely
filled with all types of happiness. May everybody worship the Primodal
being
(Supreme Lord) at all times. || 7 || And ‘Oh Maharaja’, in this world of mortals
(Earth), the one’s whose very life is this ‘Grantha’ * (Composition;
Treatise), may those people conquer and enjoy pleasures in this world
and in
the next future world. || 8 || At that time, Master ‘Shree Nivaruttinaath’
(‘Shree Dnyāneshwar Mahārāja’s' elder brother and Guru) gave firm
assurance that this boon will be granted. After getting the boon ‘Shree
Dnyāneshwar Mahārāj’
was filled with Bliss. || 9 || * The people who live by this work or the
ones who have put the philosophy explained in this composition, in
their day to day life, in short, the ones who practice it.
